Lee Taper Crimp Reloading Die 9mm Luger

Lee Taper Crimp Reloading Die 9mm Luger
The Lee Taper Crimp Die for 9mm Luger is a separate crimping die designed to apply a consistent, tapered crimp to the case mouth. It is suitable for 9mm Luger, .38 Super, .38 ACP and .380 Auto cartridges.
A taper crimp gradually reduces the diameter of the case mouth without creating the pronounced inward roll associated with a roll crimp. This type of crimp is used with pistol cartridges that headspace on the case mouth, such as 9mm Luger.
Separately Adjustable Taper Crimp
The Lee Taper Crimp Die allows the crimp to be adjusted independently of bullet seating. This makes it possible to perform bullet seating and case mouth crimping as two separate operations.
Manufactured from hardened steel, the die features a standard 7/8"-14 thread and is compatible with most conventional reloading presses.
Suitable for Multiple Calibres
The Lee Taper Crimp Die is suitable for the following pistol calibres:
- 9mm Luger (9×19 mm)
- .38 Super
- .38 ACP
- .380 Auto (9mm Browning Short)

Difference from the Lee Carbide Factory Crimp Die
This Taper Crimp Die is not the same as the Lee Carbide Factory Crimp Die. The Taper Crimp Die is designed specifically to apply a tapered case mouth crimp. The Carbide Factory Crimp Die also features a carbide sizing ring for post-sizing the loaded cartridge.
Lee notes that the additional benefit of this separate Taper Crimp Die may be limited when used alongside Lee die sets manufactured from 1986 onwards, as their bullet seating dies can already apply a modified taper crimp.
Note: For pistol cartridges that headspace on the case mouth, excessive crimping must be avoided. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and check finished cartridge dimensions against reliable reloading data.
