The 686 Silver Pigeon I is Beretta's most popular over-and-under hunting rifle. The rifle is based on the 680 platform, which has been in use since the 1950s and has been continuously improved and updated. 

This latest version of Beretta is equipped with the new Steelium Optima HP barrels and has beautiful engravings around the bascule of the shotgun.

The stock with a pistol grip and the fore-end of this new 686 Silver Pigeon I are made of hand-selected, oil-finished walnut wood. The fine checkering on the wood provides a better grip, even in the rain.

The stock is available in both a right- and left-handed version. In addition, the front wood is available in Schnabel or in a rounded version to order.  The Microcore® butt plate provides comfortable, precise shoulder support and safe, stable support while shooting.

Technology and design

The bascule of the 686 Silver Pigeon I, which is derived from the legendary 680 series, has a slim, elegant shape, characterized by the proven locking system with iconic trapezoidal shoulders and double conical locking pins. The engravings are made using modern Beretta technology, namely with a 5-axis laser, which is able to engrave rounded surfaces while maintaining perfect continuity in the design.

The theme, created by Beretta's in-house engraving studio, takes the form of an elegant floral motif, embellished with images that reflect the region where Beretta is based, such as leaves and grapes on the vine, and is featured on all sides of the bascule.

More than 1 million 68X models made

The rifle is equipped with a gold-colored single selective trigger. The selector is located behind the key on top of the rifle so that the user can choose which barrel to fire first with a quick sideways movement.

The extremely reliable and sturdy ejection system is the proven version that has been used on the 680 platform for years. Over the course of approximately 30 years, more than a million guns have been fitted with the ejector system, and it has been found to be extremely durable and reliable by many shooters.

This new and last 686 Silver Pigeon I also has Steelium Optima Bore HP barrels of very high quality and suitable for all types of shot made of lead, steel and lead substitutes such as bismuth and zinc. standard in stock caliber 12 and on order also in caliber 20, available in lengths of 66, 71 and 76 cm.

Thanks to the 70mm long interchangeable Optima HP Chokes, the spread of different types of hail is minimal. The 6x6 ventilated top rib is checked at the top, which makes it less shiny and minimizes the reflection of sunlight.

The classic-looking sight is a clear reference to the exclusive Beretta over and under rifles that they also have in their range. 

The shotgun is supplied in a sturdy polymere case, interchangeable chokes: cylindrical, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full, choke key and oil.
