What is a PCP air rifle?

PCP stands for Pre-Charged Pneumatic. A PCP air rifle (or compressed air rifle) is an air weapon that uses compressed air. The compressed air releases much more energy than with a break barrel or CO2 air rifle. This makes PCP weapons suitable for longer ranges. With some PCP air-rifles in our assortment it is even possible to accurately shoot airgun pellets or slugs over a distance of 100 meters. This makes PCP air rifles very popular for, for example, field target shooting, hunting small and large game, long-range shooting and other shooting sports disciplines.

By releasing a certain amount of compressed air from the compressed air tank on PCP air rifle, by pulling the trigger, the air rifle bullets or pellets are fired. When you are shooting the PCP air rifle, the amount of pressure in the compressed air tank decreases. Less pressure means less power behind the shots. This can be prevented with a regulator. The regulator ensures that the same amount of air is used with each shot, so that the PCP rifle continues to shoot accurately. Most modern air rifles are already equipped with a regulator.

Maintainance of a PCP air rifle

Maintenance of your PCP air rifle is essential. For your own safety and that of others, it is important that you properly maintain the tank that is mounted on the PCP rifle. This tank can be made of steel, aluminum or carbon. these bottles are inspected and can be used for 5 to 10 years.
After that, it is wise to replace it with a new one.

Different rules apply to large models filling tanks. If the inspection of these larger models has expired after for example 10 years, you may no longer have it filled, but luckily you can have an expired bottle re-inspected so that you can use it again for years.
